Streamlined Identity History Checks

Lakota Software provides a seamless workflow for FBI Fingerprint Channeling and Electronic Departmental Orders (eDO). While we do not provide the physical locations for conducting these submissions, we do offer a compliant, easy-to-use web-based application for anyone (including law firms, notaries, and background check companies) who wants to provide the service to their clients.

Much like our FD-258 conversion services, our channeling solution allows you to submit fingerprints directly to the FBI and receive an official Identity History Summary Check (Rap Sheet) electronically—often within 24 hours.

Our platform,  EFTCreator.com, serves as the secure bridge between your fingerprints and the FBI CJIS Division.

Supported Client Types:

  • Immigration Law Firms: Expedite visa/residency applications.
  • Corporate Law Firms: Litigation and defense history checks.

How it Works

  • 1. Register & Schedule -> Create an account on EFTCreator.com and then contact sales@lakotasoftware.com to initiate the process. We will ensure your account is created successfully and help you facilitate a test transaction. Once we confirm everything is setup correctly, your account will be ready for submitting your clients' fingerprints.
  • 2. Fingerprint Capture -> You will need to use one of the approved fingerprint scanners to facilitate the collection of your clients' prints. Our software offers a simple interface to walk you through the entire collection process, validates fingerprint image quality in real-time (using our approved FBI library, Image), and checks for data accuracy before submission.
  • 3. Secure Submission -> We channel your fingerprints directly to the FBI CJIS division via our encrypted connection with an FBI-approved channeler.
  • 4. Receive Results -> View and download your official Identity History Summary Check (Rap Sheet) via our channeler's secure portal, usually within 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is an Identity History Summary Check?
Often referred to as a “rap sheet,” this is a listing of information taken from fingerprint submissions retained by the FBI in connection with arrests and, in some instances, federal employment, naturalization, or military service.
How do I challenge the results of my FBI Rap Sheet?
The FBI’s CJIS Division is not authorized to modify your record without an updated record from the reporting agency. You must contact the agency (police department or court) that submitted the information to the FBI to correct errors.
Can I use this for employment or licensing?
Departmental Orders are primarily for personal review. If you need a check for employment (e.g., medical board, real estate), you typically must go through the specific state agency or requesting body, not a personal Departmental Order.
Is my personal data secure?
Yes. Lakota Software utilizes state-of-the-art encryption and is fully compliant with the FBI CJIS Security Policy.
